Lakers Off-Season Wrap

Brodie x Brow x Bron

The Lakers managed to dominate the off-season headlines by acquiring the 9x All-Star and Long Beach native, Russell Westbrook. One thing you can count on is that Brodie will bring his Nipsey Hussle flow to the court, and to the sidelines. So get ready for some fresh fits, red carpet drip, and fast break trips all season long.

When Keeping it Real Goes Wrong...

As the Purple and Gold began free agency, familiar names returned for a second (and third) stint with the team. As championship pedigree in Trevor Ariza and Dwight Howard returned to the roster, it was a deal that didn't happen that truly made this off-season possible. No doubt, Lakers brass is pretty happy in hindsight.

General Manager Rob Pelinka essentially filled 7 roster spots, with the money Dennis Schroder reportedly turned down during the 2020 regular season. While business worked itself out for Schroder and the Celtics, there is a lesson to be learned here. Acting up on social media, especially during the playoffs, can cost you a bag!

This is how I imagine Schroder's negotiation went with Jeanie Buss and Company...

Opening Day Depth Chart Prediction

Russ / THT / Bazemore

Monk / Nunn / Ellington

Lebron / Melo / Reaves (2-way)

AD / Ariza / Dudley

Dwight / Marc

The roster will be a work in progress this season. As the buyout market unfolds, Kevin Love is a name to keep an eye on. Love has 2-years, $60 million left on his contract with the Cavs.

Kemba Walker reportedly paid back $20 million to get out of his 2-year, $74 million deal in Oklahoma City. Walker eventually signed with his hometown team, the New York Knicks. Is the former UCLA Bruin, Kevin Love at that same point in his career? Only time will tell...

Didn't think I forgot about Melo, did you? I'll leave you with this audio gold
