Same War

We are on a different front, but the battle remains the same
Hide behind the smiles and laughter, but were not playing no games
So feel me when I speak, and understand where I come from
Living every day in fear of losing a loved one
Can change perspective on life, just in general
I say my prayers at night, actually I say several
Months can go by with no contact, leaving the brain to fill in the gap
Your worst fear is seeing a General at your door and your mom crying on his lap
Or so you think, but the pain and suffering never ends
And this nightmare of a story has just began
When you see him back alive and well, you think the battle is done
Seeing the deterioration of a loved one’s health is never fun
But PTSD is worse than getting shot with a fucking gun
Late nights always wondering where was the red flag
But hindsight is a bitch, we should’ve had it in the bag
Look were fighting the same war just on two different fronts
That is leaving us physically scarred and emotionally blunt
So don’t try to tell me that you know how I feel
My brother was stolen from me, and no it was not a fair deal
So do me a favor go to bed and smile at your freedom
Because one day you will wake up, living in his kingdom
