Memorial Day

It is Memorial Day so let's honor our fallen this time of the year

A day to shed light for our vets, no matter how far or near

"Be an American worth dying for," a quote I will never forget

So please say thank you to any and all, even if you have never met

Their struggle is real and beyond comprehension

Think walking on egg shells, while getting fenced in

Their journey back home can be the hardest to adjust

Patience, love, and support... All a must!

They will kick, scream, and think they are alone

When all they really need is to hear your voice on the phone

Our vets are running a marathon during a track meet

And to top it all off, no Nikes are on their feet

Blistered, broken, and bruised thinking their wounds will never heal

Its like a bad scab after you rip and peel, it will never seal

So pick up your vet, there is a light at the end of every tunnel

L-O-V-E, let's streamline the cure right thru this funnel

Now don't get me twisted, Memorial Day is to honor our fallen

But too many of our heroes are dying sniffing our own pollen

Love our country because as Americans today this should be our calling

They protected and served, so a moment of silence please, just to observe

To the military families, I say thank you, I love you and send a hug your way

So stay strong because you will see him again, and it will be a glorious day

So when all hope seems lost, just look to the sky

He'll be saying see you later, but never goodbye!
